Tips To Make More Time For Yourself (And Catch Up On Your Favorite Shows)

by Isabelle Jensen

Do you ever feel like you are constantly running around like a chicken with your head cut off? Between work and other life obligations, it might seem impossible trying to make time for yourself. Even something as simple as taking some time to catch up on your favorite TV shows can seem like a core. Fortunately, there are ways to make time for yourself and enjoy all those episodes of Stranger Things or Orange Is the New Black like you've been wanting to do.

Stop Overcommitting - It's Okay to Say "NO"

Making time for yourself means not taking on more than you can chew. It's okay to tell someone "no." That means if your boss asks you if you can stay a few extra hours after work and you can't, that's perfectly fine. It is okay to clock out on time without feeling guilty. Just think, if you get out of work on time, you might be able to head home, curl up on the couch, and catch an episode or two of your favorite show before falling asleep. If the shows you love play earlier in the day, invest in a DVR. Approximately 82% of households own or rent a DVR, or they use a streaming service. You can record your favorite shows and watch them when you have some extra time.

Stream Using ISP Services

Many internet service providers offer various bundles, many of which can sometimes include a TV package or a streaming program. There are programs available that allow you to watch your favorite shows from a mobile device. To get some more time to yourself, take your recommended breaks at work and pull up episodes from a TV show you've been wanting to watch. Use your smartphone or another mobile device to enjoy quality streaming. Another idea is to stream shows on your way home from work if you use public transportation.

Plan A Couple Hours Each Week

The best way to make time for yourself is to schedule it in like you would anything else in your life. You stick to a schedule when you go to work, so treat your "me" time the same way. Make it a point to set aside a couple of hours one day each week. Do not let any other plans overlap with your self-care time. Use that time to chill on the couch with some snacks and check out some of the new popular trending shows that are on. Perhaps watch an episode of The Masked Singer, which happens to be among the most trending TV shows currently. If you do not have access to the show, talk to your ISP about their available TV packages.

Blend it with Family Time

Taking time for yourself literally means stepping away from all other obligations and enjoying something you like to do. However, if you are the type of person who feels you also need to make more time for your family, you can do both. Sit down and decide on a TV show that everyone enjoys watching. Hit up the DVR and start recording that show if necessary. At the end of each week, decide to spend an hour watching that show with your family. When all is said and done, plan another hour of time so you can watch a show that is just for you.

Talk to your ISP to learn more about the different ways you can schedule some much-needed self-care time enjoying your favorite TV shows. There are also plenty of movie options available if you cannot find a TV show you like.

About Me

upgrading internet and equipment for multitasking

When I made the decision to begin working from my home office on a full-time basis, I knew that there were going to have to be some changes to our home. I would have to set some restrictions about the telephone, Internet and noise levels that everyone would have to abide by. They all did great about staying off of the telephone and staying quiet, but getting three kids and a spouse to stay off of the Internet during a set time during the day was impossible. We boosted our Internet connection and upgraded the equipment and now, everyone can use it at once. Find out what can be done here on my blog.
