Should You Add Home Phone Service To Your Internet Package? Consider These Benefits

by Isabelle Jensen

Are you in the process of subscribing to Internet and TV services and are being asked if you want a home phone line as well? While you may not think that you need it at the time due to having a cell phone, there can be many reasons why it is worth adding home phone service as well.

Affordable Pricing

The idea of adding a dedicated landline for phone calls may seem like it is something you cannot afford when you look at the individual price through your local phone company. However, adding voice to an existing Internet and TV bundle can be surprisingly affordable. The cost to have that voice line may be so small that the cost is worth all of the other benefits that come along with it.

Call Clarity

Do you find that your cell phone calls frequently drop out on your cell phone, either due to bad coverage or due to the construction of the building blocking your signal? This can be fixed by having a voice line in your home that does not go through the cellular network. You'll find that you love being able to take phone calls without wondering if your voice dropped out on the other end.

On-Screen Caller ID

One of the neat features of having your phone service bundled with your Internet and TV provider is that you get on-screen caller ID. When the phone rings, you will get a notification on your TV if you're watching TV at the time, which will tell you who is calling and if it is worth answering the phone. It's even possible to interact with your voicemail on the TV with some providers, which makes all your services feel more connected since you don't have to use your phone to check it.

Enhanced 911 Services

Sometimes it can be nice having peace of mind when it comes to emergency situations. If you have kids in the house and you want a phone line so that you can dial 911, know that your voice line is going to have advanced 911 services. This helps communicate the location of your phone line so that if a child ever has to dial 911, the location will be given automatically.

Call Forwarding

You can give people your home phone number so that your voice line rings when a call comes in but still have the ability to forward calls to a different phone number. Forwarding can even be done selectively on some phone numbers. This gives you the flexibility to control where you take your phone calls.

About Me

upgrading internet and equipment for multitasking

When I made the decision to begin working from my home office on a full-time basis, I knew that there were going to have to be some changes to our home. I would have to set some restrictions about the telephone, Internet and noise levels that everyone would have to abide by. They all did great about staying off of the telephone and staying quiet, but getting three kids and a spouse to stay off of the Internet during a set time during the day was impossible. We boosted our Internet connection and upgraded the equipment and now, everyone can use it at once. Find out what can be done here on my blog.
